Posable figures question

Postby horsegoggles » 10 Oct 2010, 18:52

Hello,
I am brand new here. I am beginning to learn Seamless3d for the purpose of creating images that I can pose for the purpose of capturing and applying to cartoon like settings. Stills. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated on what approach to take. I assume that animating and capturing movement by screen capture at various intervals of movement would be a way to go, but like I said, I'm new to this and I don't know what I don't know. Thanks,

Welcome to the Seamless3d forum horsegoggles and thanks for subscribing to my YouTube channel thymefromti :)

Seamless3d is oriented around Nurbs and Nurbs are ideal for creating cartoon type characters .
Playing about with nurbs lathes is a good place to start. Please try the nurbs lathe avatar tutorial which is written for a complete beginner:

http://www.seamless3d.com/nurbs-lathe-avatar

This tutorial shows how to create a simple humanoid model, pose it and animate it.

NurbsLathes can be easily converted to nurbs patches which let you have more control over the shape in all 3 dimensions. Nurbs patches can be stitched together to create even more complex shapes but its much easier when you get to this stage to use pre-stitched patches. I have made a few youtube videos showing how to use pre stitched patches:

I will be adding more pre stitched patch structures to the library:

If there is any particular patch structure you would like not yet in the library please let me know.

My Nurbs control point animation video should be good to study if you want to create expressive 3d cartoon type animations:

Please don’t hesitate to post further questions that arise from using seamless :)
