Moving the Camera

Do not follow this page yet as it no longer works correctly due to updates made to Seamless3d. Both this page and Seamless3d will be updated soon to fix this.

The position and angle of the camera play an important role in the art of making movies. Seamless3d 2.161 introduced the ability for the anim bar to capture a sequence of viewpoints and so it is now easy to simulate a camera moving in a movie scene.

To demonstrate, lets begin at the beginning of the animation by dragging the anim bar's slider to the start of the time line.

Drag a viewpoint to the Scene Tree, select the viewpoint's node to open the viewpoint's control panel and clicked the perspective field's checkbox if it is not already ticked.

To change the orientation of the view, drag the mouse with the right mouse button down.

To change the position of the view left, right, up and down, drag with the mouse with the left mouse button down.

To zoom in and out use the mouse wheel while the cursor is over the 3d scene (must not be over a 2d window)

Changing the view position in and out of the screen is the same as zooming in and out except you must gold down the left control key while using the mouse wheel. This may seem to get much the same results as zoom much of the time but it is not the same, it is actually moving the view position in the Z dimension and so the results wont always be the same as zoom.

When we have our first view ready, capture it by clicking the viewpoints' animCapture button.

Now move the slider to midway and then change the view and capture:

and do the same capturing the last view at the end of the time line:

Now click play and we will see our 3 captured viewpoints gradually changing from one to the next.
