The Lump

It only took 2 hours to make the Lump using Seamless3D (due to an error in Seamless3D, 2 of the teeth contain red color).

Anyways, I found 2 problems:
1. When undoing a mistake, there is a small chance of a crash (once that happens, your progress is gone forever as loading it again will crash it).

2. Although it says the exact file formats allowed, I still don't know how to even load in textures to anything (even with the right setup), and there are no video tutorials of that.

Anyways, have a great weekend.

It looks like you have been experimenting with extruding patches which adds an organic feel to your work.
If your file is under 1 meg you can send it by email to me so that I can check out why your teeth are red.

It wont be much fun using textures with seamless III functions like extrude or inserting control lines before seamless 3.007 has been officially released which hopefully is only weeks away now.
Until then it is worth noting all the images of Lucy in the gallery do not use textures, only colored vertices. Although textures are good for things like wood grain and are simple to use for blocks, coloring vertices can have advantages over texturing for more complex structures like faces, as you avoid all the issues of mapping different 2d regions onto the face. Colored vertices avoids problems like one region of texture slightly overlapping into another and getting different regions to match others where they border each other.

In the survival guide I say not to rely on undo to back up your files. Perhaps I should also add the importance of closing seamless down and reopening the file after doing something out of the norm to ensure the file still opens.
I often save a file over my existing file with seamless as this is a quick way of making backups, as seamless will automatically rename the existing file. Don't do this with other programs though as you can easily loose files when you save over an existing file if the software does not automatically rename the existing file.
best wishes

Hello Canwetalk
I want to write more tutorials but am delaying from doing this until after Seamless3d 3.007 has been officially released.

It depends what you are deleting. If for example you want to delete an eyeball in a face modelled with nurbs patches, it is a simple matter of clicking on one of the eyeball's control points and clicking the delete selected patches button from the toolbar.
If the object however is made up of more than one patch and the patches are stitched together like a pair of trousers for example, it is a good rule to first select all the patches for the trousers using the rectangle selection tool before pressing the button because deleting a single patch in an object made up of stitched patches can currently result in your stitched patches loosing integrity which may result in a crash or not being able to open the file after it has been saved.

If you want to delete a whole model from a scene, this is currently best done by opening the scene tree window and right clicking on the Seamless node and selecting delete from the menu. See the scene tree tutorial for more info.

It is generally good practice to save over your previous file (using seamless3d) so as to make a back up of it and close seamless down and then re open the file after deleting any patches or nodes to reset global variables and ensure all is working before doing any more work on your model.
Best wishes

Thanks to your question bringing my attention to this issue, I have made it so the upcoming version of seamless can now deal with the scenario I am aware of that can cause instability, so it should no longer be so critical how stitched patches are deleted after the release of 3.007
