Hi Evan
I found out a long time ago when making my robots in povray (before seamless3d existed) it is easy to make aesthetically pleasing models if you keep your shapes simple.
I am currently working on a way to show how anyone can make aesthetically pleasing organic models by using simple shapes as guides for the organic models.
Anyone will be able to make this head because I will show how to make this exact shape for the guide using the snap to grid feature but variations of my formula can be played with by the artist and I want to show how such a simple shape can evolve into a more complex realistic head shape without it getting ugly if one wishes to go down that path.
The hair is not that hard to make but I am hoping to find a simpler solution. A hat of course would be one but there should be an option to make something that can pass as hair that is kept very simple to make.
