The feature that lets the user apply ownership to control points using the rectangle selection tool was broken in the previous version! This has been fixed for 3.017. Many thanks to colasa for posting this find on the Seamless3d forum.
In addition to this important fix, 3.017 should be a little friendlier when adding a lathe, box, sphere or rectangle. You can now immediately click the done button to complete the set up operation which will give you default settings for the geometry and allow you to make adjustments later. You can still add geometry the same way in previous versions too.
When adding a lathe there is no longer the need to press done after adding 3 control points because a lathe now lets you always add a new control point whenever you click on empty space and you can now insert a new control point by clicking inline between two points. This makes it a little different to how it is shown in existing tutorials but hopefully most will find it simple enough to understand and find it more self explanatory when not following a tutorial.
